We are bombarded daily by the news that takes away the quiet. We are challenged to live a dignified life in a world of inequalities and very cruel. Not to mention that our minds fall into the blow of activism and when we realise we are stressed, tired, depressed and the symptoms lead us to worse things.
The bible mentions a peace that transcends all understanding. John 14:27 ” Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
What peace is this?
We are born at war. A nature that it is against God. Yes, I have to use the expression you don’t want to read, a sinful nature. Our heart’s desire is to be separated from Him.
But God wants us back and He has his way. He sends us the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), Jesus goal in coming to earth was more than simply ceases the hostilities. He came to bring about a FULL and ABIDING relationship o restoration and love. The cost of this peace was his Life. (Isaiah 53:5).
Only God can lead us to want peace with Him. The Holy Spirit lead us to want Jesus and his message that it is the message of grace. Once the Spirit draw us, we believe in Jesus and the peace comes. (Rom 5:1) “Since we have been justified through faith, we have peace in God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
The fruit of the Spirit includes a peace that goes beyond the salvation.
It is a sweet relationship.
He called us to His presence (Ephesians 2:11-18)
Called to be confident in that presence (Hebrews 4:16)
We are His friends. (John 15:15)
“The Steadfast of mind you will keep in perfect peace because he trusts in you.” Isaiah 26:3
Phillipians 4:4-7 – Believers are to be “anxious for nothing” for God promisses to “guard your hearts and minds”, it is a peace “wich transcends all understanding”; that is, to the wordly mind, such peace is incomprehensible.
It is the source is the Holy Spirit of God, whom the world neither sees nor knows. (John 14:17)
The Spirit-filled Christian has a peace that is abundant, available in every situation, and unlike anything that the world has to offer. (John 14:27)
I want to finish today with the word in the book of 2 Tessalonians 3:16 “Now may the Lord of peace himself gives you peace at all times in every way.”
