The Book of Mark Overview

Hi my name is Luci, today we are starting the bible study of the book of Mark.

Every week I will post here a devotional; a small text to make us think and reflect on the chapter we will be reading.

My prayer is that God will inspire us, talk and guide us during this journey.

A Big thanks to the Good Morning Girls to inspire me and give us all the resources.

Fill free to comment here or on my facebook page and also I am on Instagram with pictures (when inspired ).

Have fun,

Luci

Introduction Book of Mark

The Purpose: To present the person and work of Jesus Christ.

Author: John Mark. Mark was not one of the original 12 disciples but was the accompaniment of Paul and Barnabas in the book of Acts. (If you struggle with second chances, this is a beautiful display of how the Lord can use us! John Mark struggled in the book of Acts and yet God still used him to pen a book that we still read today! To God be the glory!)

Time Period: written between AD 55 and 65

Key Verse: “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45

Major Themes of the Book of Mark

  • Jesus as the Son of God
  • Jesus as a Servant
  • Jesus as a Miracle Worker
  • The Spreading of the Gospel

Chapter 1

V17 “Come, follow me, Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”

Jesus begins his ministry; inviting men to follow him;  With precision and without delay, Jesus invites them as one that urgency to begin this teaching as soon as possible.

Are you ready to say yes to that call? In time and in his own way? Or whatever your way, in your condition, getting even in your comfort zone?

This morning may you will be inspired to re-evaluate your decisions and your  attitudes to the conviction of God’s call in your as life is clear, loud and in good form as it can be.

Good Morning!!
